Decreasing Humanity

In most of the families old parents are treated as a burden. Children learn lots of positive qualities from elders without any efforts like adjustment, reverence, politeness, self control and above all patience and sharing which is a rare thing when both the parents are working and family is nuclear. Children tend to take negative decisions in a critical situation very easily these days whereas it was not commonly seen earlier. Slight restrictions also make children upset to the extent of suicide because they lack patience and control.

A friend of mine shocked me one day when I was on my way to hospital with lunch for my mother- in-law who suffered a stroke at that time. It was scorching hot and I had to walk almost for half an hour. She met me on the road, asked me, "Why in such a hot climate you are taking so much trouble? Instead you can put them in home for aged people, they take really good care and you know even do the last rites after their death. We need only pay the required amount. In my opinion you better do this thing at the earliest."

I was speechless as she being from a rural area had such a modern attitude whereas I was brought up in urban area lacked practicality according to her. Relations means nothing except materialistic things these days but relationships strengthens and binds us with our spouse if we take care of parents-in-law in true sense. Becoming modern does not mean to be selfish. Unfortunately the circumstances demand staying away from family and the youngsters outlook has changed accordingly which is not a healthy thing considering relationships.

Values also have changed drastically. Western culture is dominating youngsters and ethics have nominal place in their lives which may pose very dangerous effects. Girls without slightest hesitations move freely out and never worry to cross the limitations expected from a decent family. Many a times parents have to bear the brunt for the daughters behavior after their marriage. Though we have advanced still in society we are expected to at least not violate certain rules. Easily unmarried girls can be spotted waiting in the hospitals to abort illegitimate babies. After they are forced to marry elsewhere and in most of such situations the consequences are worst than expected.

Cell  phones have become a compulsion and lots of applications make us very capable of accessing things at the finger tips if utilized properly but mostly young boys and girls are misusing this just for the sake of getting close to the friends of opposite sex which may be pleasant but has diverse effects on their lives. Exchanging photos is seen common thing and none can control every movement of children. Children must be given guidance through proper person so as to reach in the correct manner not to revolt against parents.

Girls have especially become very self conscious be it dressing sense or make up. Dressing sense must have elegance not glamour to arouse wrong intentions. Of late crime rates have increased rapidly and unfortunately young boys are seen getting involved. At least to save ourselves from unwanted troubles we can take precautions. Being modern does not mean body-exposure. When in joint families though ladies lacked much freedom yet many a positives were there to safeguard growing children which has lost in modern culture. even our cultural values are diminishing fast.

  1. We are adapting Western culture.
That is getting mixed with our culture and traditional ways of living.
Where as many learned Westerns are exploring our culture. Adopting it and spreading our culture
    Just like ISKCON.
    Our life is short.
Our traditions and culture had come long way.
