The bygone days
I wish I could be reborn again to enjoy my growing stage with my ever loving zinda dil mamaji who never for a moment left his zest. We were so much fond of him that it seemed like a competition to be around him, with silly reasons just because we loved him so deep. I remember preparing paan for him which mamaji used to relish lot, I just applied lots of choona and kaththaa without realising its result on my dear mamaji's tongue, he also took and chewed it. I was on 9th cloud with happiness and later when I came to know how much he suffered of my overflowing love I felt miserable but he didn't utter a word about it to me.
I still remember the resonant singing of Jagjit Singh gazals which he loved much and anytime it would be in the air when he was at home. the memorable notes..yeh daulat bhi le lo...Wo kaagaz ki kashti wo baarish ka paani... Being with him was simply a joy. Be it watching him wash his milk white dresses with lemon and besan for stains or taking bath over our well we were around him like honey bees. Never he would behave angrily especially with us.
When he would get ready for work in awe we would watch him in awe, so handsome he was! He would sit silently and sadly which was unbearable. We won't leave without knowing the cause, He would tell how he had to beat a culprit and for that how bad he felt. Then why you didn't tell someone else to beat was our simple question, to it he would answer. others would beat to vent their anger and frustrations dear and I would beat just to make him tell the truth. So sensitive yet a Police by profession! Actually he wanted to become a doctor.
As a father also he was very very loving. I remember vividly carrying my sister Meesha on his shoulders making her stand with her tiny figure trying to balance steady, it was a real fun to watch mamaji laugh heartily, cheering all around him. The exchange of Janaab and Begum as both of them addressed was still very interesting and full of love. So loving in all his roles as a son, as a brother, as a mama, as a husband and as a father, in every role he was the BEST.
At the time of his untimely demise a cruel plan, all were so much shattered that even after years of the departure, the sight of a police could pierce our heart and bring tears. Just because he was not supposed to be with us for long he was good to everyone or was he by mistake born in our family to show how to spread love around us.. We all love you with the same warmth mamaji and miss you a lot...
