Self Education
Education means to acquire knowledge systematically. Our educational system is but not capable of producing efficient candidates from a certain period, and I think the reason is over-burdening the students with as many subjects as possible, Even parents leave little space for the young minds as if preparing for competitions, they just don't leave them free. Dance, music, abacus, handwriting, keyboard and so many to mention. Hardly children get time to learn, only attending classes can't give assurance of learning.
Language learning has become so complicated just because of the practice of memorizing mechanically and running behind scoring marks. Teachers must give more attention as they hardly get time to pay attention individually. On average students, none wants to spend time, all lack patience. Syllabus completion is the biggest task but then without understanding whats the use of teaching and how at all they would learn. Writing exams and scoring marks has become the aim of going school unfortunately.
I have seen even most poor students getting good grasp if dealt with patience and kindness. First of all the fear must be eliminated and interest should be aroused for learning, if interest is aroused spontaneity comes automatically thus learning speed doubles and without any mental stress, students excel in subjects.
If we observe the notes of the children many things which are corrected have mistakes. As it's corrected, children memorize and write but get less marks. How many parents have time to check their notes, they go to school then tuition that's enough. Such small things slip just because teachers too correct mechanically. Why this attitude? Who is to be blamed?
Sincerity has been reducing and now a few have sincere attitude towards their profession, though a bit tough to digest, it's true. The teachers want appointments in govt schools but they send their wards to private schools as they know the quality of education they impart.
Dr. Radhakrishnan was such a genuine teacher, we prepare a speech and deliver on teacher's day to honor him. where do we lack? we need to analyze and rectify, our whole generation would suffer from this. Children should and must be trained initially in such a way that they learn rather memorize portions. So many children even do not have the capacity to read on their own. Without identifying basic letters how can they excel at all, then whats the sense in their promotion? After a certain standard they become self-conscious thus complex takes over them.
Little time spent on regular basis can bring tremendous changes. Where is the time and who has the interest? Parents leave the children in schools and think their duty is over. After completing engineering and other degrees they lack communication skills just because language too is treated as a subject, really tragic thing.
I am also teaching and feel it's my duty to mention this, we must promise ourselves to be a good teacher. Teachers are like a torch, eradicate the darkness in students' venture.
