Discriminating Attitude
Often we do a mistake without realizing of identifying people under income, gender and community basis. I thought it was a practice which only a few people followed but after I married and shifted to south to a little interior area I was shocked to note that almost everybody has this habit and they feel proud in following it. Suppose a person is from a backward community or low income group certainly on its mention they would feel awkward or maybe inferior. We should rather learn to judge people from their characteristics as it would make them feel more confident and of course more close.
From childhood I enjoyed reading Bharathiyar poetry and his revolutionary thoughts had great impact and influence on me and in my thoughts I pictured south as in the poetry. When I shifted to south from Bombay I just could not digest this discrimination as I myself don't believe in caste system at all. Not much freedom is given to ladies especially freedom of thoughts. They are expected to be only home-makers I don't mean to complain but certainly many ladies have intellectual potentials and can do lots than just being a home-maker if not obstructed.
I have seen ladies in metropolitan cities doing wonders in leisure time, surprisingly creative and capable of handling financial matters well so as to help in home management as well support their spouse in times of crisis, whereas in rural area its not at all welcomed. People have more broader outlook in urban area and treat equally, whereas in rural area ladies are almost compelled to follow blindly without questioning anything, it is atrocious as every individual has some basic rights, I don't think they should be denied on any pretext. Unfortunately but I had revolutionary thoughts and great thinking powers but found myself following the foot steps blindly. Circumstances and the surrounding environment many a times force and changes a person completely if lack financial freedom.
To force a person to change according to others' wish is in my opinion a crime as the person who is not ready to leave originality but has no options would surely feel unhappy and dissatisfied thus the liveliness would vanish gradually, then how intellect and creativity would be seen in them? To underestimate someone's potential or to suppress it means the same. Every individual has some desires and needs which must get fulfillment. To a certain age we have zest, stamina, creativity and innovative ideas. without utilizing them we tend to suppress and feel dejected.
Ladies who are managing home as well job need more understanding attitude at home but rather they get even less of it. without thinking people comment even on their character. Situation becomes still worst when its joint family as petty issues also get blown up and it becomes really tough to manage.
I think woman need awareness regarding their rights and total well being. Without personal awareness its quite difficult to feel self fulfilled in life.
We were reared in such a way that never the slightest thought of our dreams, desires and ambitions got importance. Girls should keep themselves ready to change according to family circumstances was the main concept. Keeping this in mind ladies ignored themselves or rather I should say were ignored to the extent of losing their spirit itself.
Nowadays on the contrary, situation and our attitudes have great changes. Even the birth of a baby girl gets warm welcome, her education is given priority, job opportunities are not rejected on silly grounds, marriage is also considered on her agreement so in short its pleasant. Even boys are extremely supportive and helpful and I must compliment heartily young generation.
Nowadays ladies feel more content and fulfilled, as a result children are reared with care and of course free of complexes. If the ladies are suffering, definitely the children would be affected and it would reflect in their life too. Relations mean much in Indian culture but unfortunately are given least importance. Ladies are the backbone of every family so its highly essential to understand this and focus on it.
Health is another aspect. If ignored leads to all sorts of complications. We can see many ladies suffer psychologically in growing age. Poor health is a main reason. We should find healthy outlets to vent our feelings in a positive way. Suppressed feelings always have outburst in an awkward manner.
If we throw a glance, in history of India we can find strong women who were steps ahead in determination, grits, hard work, intellect, innovative thoughts and of course genuine painstaking efforts.
Being a woman has its own positives which need to be identified. For our skills and endeavor sky is the limit. Go ahead with a strong determination and make the world look at you astonished. Prove our land has many more Indira, Sarojini, Vijaylakshmi and Muthulakshmi to carry on the voyage successfully...
In every house if they don't have a girl child the family looks incomplete, in stress a daughter, a sister, a mother, a sister-in-law, a friend, a wife and a lover is a big solace. A male can be supportive but lacks that special soothing touch of a female. Isn't it our duty to help them in holistic growth and safeguard the fragrance of their spirit.?
Support them in every possible way and make you proud of them. Our society needs them to shape up and support family with selfless love and care which none can do better. I think its the best era for women to grow in full fledge. My heart desires to be born again now, to see my dreams come true which I could not fulfill but am too glad to see the youngsters enjoying..at last we can share our views on the same platform with our previous generation openly..isn't this a boon!!
At last we are gaining freedom of our discriminating attitudes. I remember very vividly reading the stories of our epics, in which we were ages ahead and then the invaders made us mentally slave as we started following the things our ancestors rejected. As a result women were treated in low manner. If only that Golden Era we could have witnessed.
Education is must to change our attitude and help us lead happy and good life not only materialistic.
